Kael'in listened to Malachy, fascinated at the prospect of seeing him in action. "The scribes, right...." He did a mental inventory of the ruins, and continued "well, there's a good chance that some of them are buried in the ruins, we found lots of human remains. The ruins look like they are a product of a some sort of disaster, not a natural aging..."
He didn't notice how much time had passed until Tiy called for a servant. He realized he was hungry when his stomach let out a quiet growl as she ordered dinner. He'd not eaten much all day. He knew he should probably go have dinner with his student, but maybe the boy should learn to be more self sefficient... And there was lots of ready food at home anyway. Nor did he really want to leave such good company.

Dar'ian grinned at the calm way they took the fact that he was a dragon. He wasn't at all surprised at malachy's calm about it, considering... But Lady Tiy's... It was rather rare for people to not bombard him with questions. Assuming they even caught on to the fact he wasn't human."What? no questions?"
Listening to Kael'in describe the human remains in the ruins, he put in his two cents. "Some of the humans also reek of magic, old magic...."
Hearing Kael'in think about not going home to make dinner, like he usually did if he was in town, Dar'ian couldn't help teasing him. :Gonna force him to settle for that leftover chicken? The poor child!"

Question? He certainly had a few of those as this dragon was behave beyond his races norm, what following a young spellcaster around in human for? Malachy knew there where dragons that didn't view humans as nothing more than potential prey, in fact some loved lesser beings such as humans. But some how, especially from the fact that the human and the dragon where both male made the thought of the dragon being a human lover either extremely and almost horrifically odd, or the dragon wasn't like that and there was something else going on.
But before he asked his question he would offer some insight into the ruins "Well I suspect this is from Aesir, or its ruins. The city recently lost a war to this one. As far as I can tell from my sources it was based heavily on magic versus the mundane. Avaren the one fighting against magic won, and that is in fact why I'm here. The loss of all that magic and the loss of certain mages has put magic off balance. So, i should say the people you saw did not die of natural causes, and i wouldn't doubt that some enchantments or shield and enchantments aren't still protecting their casters. I will need to go and investigate the ruins myself some time soon anyway. Maybe we can get this translated then." He offered, handing the cube back."
He heard Tiy call for dinner, only then noticed he hadn't eaten since before the sun was in the sky. "Bob, you can go back to your guard detail I doubt your presence here will serve us." He said sending the skeleton back to his post" Then he turned to the dragon. "Well, Dar'ian, I do have one question for you. What business do you have following this human around? It just seems peculiarly unnatural."

[OCC: Tiy, hope you don't mind me jumping ahead of you here...]
As Malachy gave him a brief overview of the past war between Avaren and Aesir, it began to make a bit more sense. I mean, old magic and human remains, in an area that he'd not found any documentation that there was anything other than Aesir and Avaren nearby... He hated to jump to that conclusion, but it made a heck of a lot of sense. Malachy's thoughts on this truly intrigued him. And the man had a way to verify his information in a way that was unmatched by any other that he knew of. "That would be great! I'm very curious what directly caused those deaths. I mean, it can't have been something normal... the existence of something that strong worries me." He wanted to study the magical currents around those ruins at a greater detail... It was scary to think of how much havoc something of that power would theoretically have on the currents. He accepted the cube back and put it on.
He laughed when Malachy asked Dar'ian about why Dar'ian was hanging around with him. It was such a typical question and the hilarity of a dragon and human friendship got him every time. It hilarious because it was so odd, as both he and Dar'ian were willing to admit.

Dar'ian laughed at Malachy's question, not as an insult, but as it was so accurate. Why was he hanging out with Kael'in? What made made him see humans so differently then most other dragons? Wow, this question was a heck of a 'loaded bow'. :Care to take a go at this? I think it's your turn, this time around... He sent to Kael'in telepathically and almost instantly got a laughing response. :Nah...He'll totally accept it better from you...Have fun Dar'ian grinned at the logic of Kael'in's thought. It was kinda funny for the human to compliment himself... Guess he'd have to 'bite the arrow' himself...
"Well, I kinda tried to kill Kael'in before I realized that he'd freed -not trapped- my baby sister. You know how some mages tend to try to get a 'companion'? Well, some of those mages go for less common ones, like dragons. And trying to get a dragon 'companion' isn't exactly safe, since most see it as a grave insult. So they try to go for our young, since they're so much easier to enslave. Anyway, Kael'in was in the area looking for an animal to talk into coming with him, and found my sister. Well, we started off teaming up to hunt that mage, since we both were going to anyway and after a while we became friends. We figured out we didn't actually have to actively look for a mage like that, since he'd likely resurface one of these days. I mean, a mage that ambitious and unethical, as to try enslaving a youngling as a 'companion' is gonna become a danger to everyone at some point.... So we're just gonna resume tracking him when he resurfaces again.

(ooc: Charger has been found =))
Tiy smiled and listened to the conversation and the explination of how they became companions and she just nodded. She knew what it was like to have some companion just like that. She had Jez. Her very large black wolf that she could communicate with via telepathy. She took another sip of tea and then laughed lightly as it tickled her nose a little. "Can you guys talk telepathically as well?" she asked, not thinking about sharing her other thoughts first. But when she had said it she saw just how confusing that must have sounded, so she laughed lightly at herself and set the teacup on her knee.
"Sorry. I have a companion as well. My wolf, Jez. And we can communicate telepathically, but she has no talent to transform into a human."

[OCC: sorry I was gone so long! I didn't realize you were back lol Gratz on the charger, btw.]
Kael'in grinned at her question, a bit confused byt he 'as well'. Oh well, not like it mattered to him that much. The question was still clear enough, after all. His confusion was short lived though, as she clarified it with her explaination of her wolf friend.
"A wolf? how interesting! I was looking for a bird to convince to come with me, but got stuck with Dar'ian here!" He replied jokingly, knowing full well that a comment like that wouldn't annoy him. It might actually make him laugh. he was uncertain about answering a question that could give away possibly their greatist advantage in battle, at least not without Dar'ian's consent. He wasn't worried about letting Tiy find out, or Malachy either. He didn't seem to be the kind to spout secrets to the winds, and Tiy seemed to trust him enough. He got Dar'ian's consent even before he posed him the question, as he'd been following Kael'in's thoughts, as usual. "yeah, we can. Never any privacy, eh?" he continued with a laugh. That joke earned him a poke from Dar'ian and a "Ha Ha, very funny..." This made Kael'in crack up again.

Tiy laughed with him and smiled over at the two. They were very much like her and Jez. Almost like siblings. She took a sip of her tea and then shook her head. "No... not much privacy. But Jez and I have rules for when we talk and when we should not," she mentioned. She looked over at Malachy and smiled at him. For some reason, sitting here and having tea reminded her of the first time that they met and talked in her living room.... Except that it was not tea that they were drinking. She laughed lightly and then looked back at the two young men next to her.
