Kael'in walked into the tavern, with a sigh of relief. It was an unusually cold night, with icy rain pouring. He'd only just gotten back to the city from a long trip. Boy, was he glad to be back! Not that he hadn't enjoyed visiting his old teacher, but he hated the horrible weather. It had been raining like this for most of the time he was on the road. Thank goodness for water-repentance spells He been forced to use a rather powerful one in order to avoid being soaked right through from the beginning. Even with them, he was still pretty wet now.
Making his way to the bartender, he started looking around. He ordered a room for two nights and a warm drink. Surprisingly, he still wasn't hungry. ...either she gave me magicked food for the trip, or I'm starting to catch a cold... Right on cue, a small sneeze emerged. He grinned and decided it was probably both. He'd not checked the food she'd given him for magic, as he knew that she wouldn't try to hurt him, and was beginning to to be grateful for that fact. He hadn't been a big fan of expending that much power on something so trivial as magicking food. He'd have protested her doing it, which was probably why she'd done it when he couldn't see her. Well, now his opinion took a u-turn; he was all for magicking supplies!
Having been directed to his room, he gently placed his packs on the floor. When the he was alone, he started removing his armor. He changed into something dry and cast a spell on the wet clothes to have them dry slowly. This way it only drained his power steadily, and he could stop the spell if he needed to. He moved his packs and armor to a closet in the room, and magically sealed the door. ...anyone trying to break in here will be in for far more than they bargained for!. He'd learned long ago, that getting robbed at an inn wasn't that rare an occurance. Actually, it had been the mistake that his teacher had made... Considering the fact that she'd ended up stranded because of being robbed, he preferred the expense of power to the alternative.
He came downstairs into the general area of the tavern and sat down on the empty couch in the corner. It was the perfect place to watch everyone.

Spending all her day in the city streets talking with friends, visiting businesses, and just enjoying her day, Tiy was just a little tired, but felt like a good pint would help her day end well.... amongst other things, but that was left for later. Dressed in a blue cape over a yellow dress, she slipped into the bar, almost unnoticed since the cape's hood was drawn up, and the front was closed over her. Her blond curls, however, were dangling out from the hood and she got a few looks. When a few people recognized who she was, they raised their glasses to her or smiled and waved at her. She smiled back and pushed off her hood and the bar tendered smiled at her. "A drink for you, Lady Tiy?" he asked her. She smiled and nodded at him. "My regular please, Al," she remarked. He nodded and grabbed a chilled pint and handed her the beer with a good head on it after he poured it. She nodded to him and then looked around the pub. There was a man settled on the couch she normally sat on, but figured that introducing herself to another person would never hurt. She walked over to the couch and smiled at him brightly. "Mind if I join you?"

Kael'in watched as a cloaked woman walked into the tavern. He didn't pay much attention to her until she started to make her way in his direction. :hmm...this is getting interesting... Sure you don't wan to join me? He mindspoke to Dar'ian. He grinned to himself as Dar'ian sent him his overall opinion of crowded cities and nighttime. Kael'in had known he'd get that response before he'd asked but still...
"Sure, why not?" he replied with a smile, and continued "I'm Kael'in, by the way..." as he offered his hand. This wasn't normal for him - to get all friendly with strangers- but for some indescribable reason she put him at ease. And he trusted his intuition a great deal. Still, self-preservation was so ingrained at this point, an he had to do something.
:Dar'ian? Dar'ian, wake up! Can you keep an eye on things here? I'll leave the link wide open for you... He knew Dar'ian was just dozing and he could use a bit of cover here. He had picked up from her something he couldn't define yet, he was beginning to worry. This way he could fully relax, as on the odd chance that his instincts were wrong, Dar'ian could bail him out. Getting Dar'ian's response, he'd opened the telepathic link that specifically linked him to Dar'ian, allowing them to know whatever was going on at either of their ends. This way, at least Dar'ian could track him.
:Maybe I should come over? Meet the pretty lady? Dar'ian teased.

If there was one thing she loved, it was how friendly people could be when you were first meeting. It always gave her high marks on her first opinion of them. He also introduced himself as she sat down next to him. She smiled brightly, and shook his hand. "I'm Tiy," she gave a cute smile before sipping at her beer. "Are you new around this place?" she asked him.
It was true that she had never seen him around here, but she always made it a goal of hers to get to know everyone. Some more than others, but that was another story for later. Right now she was focusing on the man with her now. Sure... she had another one on mind, but her thoughts were on Kael'in for the time being. She pulled up her dress a little and settled the beer between her knees and then untied her robe and sipped it off of her shoudlers and arms. It was a little to hot for it. She turned back to Kael'in, taking her beer up in her hands again and taking another sip as she looked at him, curious about who he was.

"Nice to meet you" Kael'in smiling, continued "Not exactly, no... I just come here rather randomly..." His was a little surprised to be telling a stranger this, but it just seemed to come out. He was figured that it was time to put down the mixture of cider and some alcoholic drink he was drinking, as it might be affecting his judgment. But boy was it good after hours of being outdoors in this weather. It was time to start pulling his weight in this conversation. Well, a gentleman couldn't let the lady do all the talking...
"I assume you're a local? Funny how we've never met..." He said with a grin. He was fishing now, but what the heck. It appeared to that his brain had shut off... Probably the drink... At that moment, Dar'ian couldn't resist teasing him. :Or maybe it's the pretty lady that's got you tongue-tied? Along the their link, as undeniably laughlike wave trickled in. Kael'in, forgotting he was with a stranger, laughed. He shot back a his thoughts on that particular comment back to Dar'ian.
Realizing he'd laughed at nothing Tiy could follow, he gave an embarrassed grin. He figured it was better to steer the conversation away from that mishap. "So...What do you do?...I'm pretty much a treasure hunter"

A new scent invaded his domain. Humans did every once and a while pass by and he would allow it so long as they stayed out of his business, but this was different the scent was that of a dragon. Another male dragon. This would NOT be tolerated. Now he had noticed the scent quite a while ago, and since then he had crawled out of his cave and flew out of his mountain home, searching for the dragon that had the tenacity to enter HIS territory. And it wasn't so mush scent it was more a form of ESP he knew there was another dragon near by.
He flew high above the city his blood red scales hidden in darkness the only evidence that he was there from the ground was the vanishing stars as his form blocked them from view. His golden gaze scanned the ground and the sky searching for the intruder. Wherever he was. "Dragon, know that your days are numbered if you stay in my territory. Leave, or I shall consider your presence a challenge." The telepathic voice was spoken in draconian, the language of the dragons, a language that a dragon understood whether they where taught it or not. It was also spoken widely, everyone would be able to hear him, but uneducated, ones that had not learned draconian, human's wouldn't understand it and it would probably be ignored, but to the dragon the meaning of the message, and the messenger's intentions, where vividly clear. Leave or die. Leave or I will kill you.
(ooc: no worries just thought I'd make things interesting.)

Dar'ian had sensed the fellow dragon nearby. It was rare enough for two male dragons to be so close to each other. He hd paid no interest to the dragon, having directed his attention to his companion's end. It was always fun to watch him...
Suddenly, his attention was riveted to th dragon, as he heard the challenge issuedin Draconian. This was definitely getting interesting! :Hey Dar, is that a challenge? Came the concerned thought from Kael'in. He'd taught Kael'in some rudimentary Draconian after their first encounter with an angry dragon. That way Kael'in knew to hightail it outta there. A human, even one as well-educated in dragons as Kael'in, was unlikely to be able to survive long against one. Nor did Kael'in delude himself that he could last against one. :...yes... but I'm not leaving...It's getting interesting here, so you might want to be more careful on you end...I'm not gonna be there to save your ass, this time" He finished with grin. He laughed when he heard Kael'in's teasing : have fun
After a moment or so, Dar'ian sent out, also in Draconian, :Might I ask what purpose my departure would serve? It was also wide-sent, the same way that he had received the question.
Kael'in realized he'd probably be on his own, though the link was still wide open, and did a mental check to make sure he was wearing all his defences. The daggers were hidden in his ankles and wrists, the sword worn at his side, and finally -on the odd chance that she was a mage- his reserve of power ready for use, nd connected to the lines of power nearby. He did this while maintaining the same expression and the existing conversation. He kept part of his attention on Dar'ian though, as that promised to be interesting. He heard Dar'ian ask what purpose his departure would serve... That made Kael'in grin to himself as that was typical Dar'ian. Always antagonizing others in a diplomatic way. Polite, rational, and logical questions were Dar'ian's choice of making things interesting...

The great red dragon skimmed over the trees and over the buildings just inside the walls of Avaren. He was sure that the mages of the city itself where looking for him and he didn't need to provoke the humans' army.
Thats when he noticed the other creature getting closer. he was flying as well it would seem. Then the intruder asked him a very aggravating question. "Your departure would ensure your health, and the continuity of your life for one, Dragon. The mountains are my Home the forest and this kingdom are my territory. You are trespassing if you do not leave your life will be forfeit." Now that he knew where the other dragon was he could target him and not get others involved.
Bloodwing was completely unaware of the other dragon's human companion. It wouldn't matter very much if he did, of course such unions did give the dragon an edge, but Bloodwing had size, and age on his side. Not only that the red one was not afraid attack people. It would not be wise to reveal the human companion, but that depended on how trusting the other dragon was.

[OCC: Dar'ian is not flying around... As I mentioned before, he was asleep... He isn't asleep anymore, but not enough time would have passed yet for him to be all out flying. He's probably still on the ground.]
Dar'ian would have much preferred not to engage this dragon in combat, but it seemed unavoidable. It wasn't out of fear he'd have liked to avoid this, but out of the fact that he didn't particularly enjoy killing. Not that he was hesitant when he had to... He killed with no problem or qualms when he was put in such situation. He realized that most likely that dragon was stronger than him, simply by the fact that he was older and bigger than him. On the other hand, the dragon might be at a serious disadvantage because of the fact that he and Kael'in had mastered the ability to share power. Considering their strong telepathic link, Kael'in could easily magically enhance Dar'ian's attacks. It also helped that Kael'in had reached the farthest stage of magical mastery that his school had offered. He wouldn't have to rely on himself for power, but could draw on natural energies for those enhancements. Considering dragons could have a the gift of magic, even though it was rare, Kael'in could disguise his spells to power appear that they were Dar'ian's. :I might need your magic soon... He warned Kael'in, though Kael'in had picked it up already by the dragon's response.
:Already drawing in energy... I'll channel it through you, so he doesn't know about me... Just let me know when you need it...
Kael'in planned to use the channelling to mask his magical signature, by replacing it with Dar'ian's. They both knew that any advantage off Kael'in in this position was dependent on the fact that he was a surprise. It allowed him to cover them both before he was ever discovered. Kael'in began to reinforce the already existing barriers that protected their minds from outside intrusion. He covered them in such a way, that any attempt to break them would require a magical attack, while a magical attack would be reflected back at the user. It was not a nice spell, but a highly effective one. The nice part about it was that he'd sent the key to it to the head of almost every magic school he knew of of good repute. With it he'd sent instructions to continue sending it to the heads of other schools such schools. He hoped it had gotten far enough by now. There was a minimal chance of it getting into the wrong hands, but considering it required more power than most mages could hold in reserve, he wasn't worried about it getting into the hands of mages who didn't understand the significance of it. By the time they could use it, they were trained well enough to understand the horror of such a spell.
Kael'in sighed, realizing his nice relaxing evening was shoot to hell, with the fact that this magic business was actually work... At least he had some time, as Dar'ian was gonna try to antagonize the dragon into making a hasty attack, which was a grave mistake. Dar'ian might appear young and weak, but he was not. His particular skills and abilities, though weak on their own, were exponentially more powerful when used in concert with a powerful mage.
:Your territory? I concede the mountains may be your territory, but this kingdom is mine! I have lived here for years... You would be well advised to leave me be!
The interesting thing was that Dar'ian was not kidding... He claimed Avaren as his territory, and logically so, considering he'd so far never been challenged for it. Maybe he lived mostly in his human form, but the territory was no less his because of it. He did not plan to give it up, as he did not trust this dragon to be good to humans... most weren't, and the only reason he was, was because Kael'in -a human- had rescued his sister. The human's of Avaren had no reason to fear him, good knows they had no idea he was actually a dragon; but he wouldn't leave them to the 'mercy' of a dragon he didn't know or trust...
This is a such a pain... we should have just gone home... I wouldn't have to improvise...
Kael'in thought wistfully of all the nasty little offensive spells that he had at home. Spells already made, that just needed to be activated... The sad part was that his house was actually only about half a hour from the inn. He'd come here because it was a good place to relax, away from his assistant... The assistant was very good, but he had a major crush on Kael'in... and he so rarely got a break from him, since the young man was his student... :At least now you have a reason to tell Adrianne that you can't teach her son... Dar'ian broke in with a joke. It was true though, considering the only reason she wasn't teaching her own son was so that there were no accusations of favourism... And his infatuation with Kael'in, though hilarious and uncomfortable, was no real reason to send him back. But this...She hadn't sent him to Kael'in to get the poor boy killed...

He said it was nice to meet her and she smiled back at him, nodding in agreement. He told her that he was local, he just came here everyone once in a while. She shaped an 'oh' with her mouth and then laughed lightly. He assumed that she was local and she nodded and then he said it was funny how they had never met. She nodded, smiling again. It was rather strange that she had not ran into this local man before. She had not even seen him before. She thought about it for a minute and then shook the thought from her head, nope: they had never met. But that was all right, she was meeting him now.
He asked what she did, and she took another sip of her beer as he asked it, and then she started. "Well... I'm actually on the Ruling Council, Lady Tiy Lockheart," she nodded lightly. "But I am a mage and teacher on the side. I love to teach the young how to defend themselves..." she paused. "But you treasure hunt, do you say? What's that like?" she leaned in a little, being interested in what he was going to tell her.
