For all those interested, there is another part of your profile related to your position that is not covered in the "positions" thread on this site. These are guilds. As you may or may not already know, Guilds are essentially small organizations within the greater whole banded together for a greater purpose.
Below your avatar picture is a place where it states which guild you are affiliated with. Of course, for new members, this will say "none". Now, the two important topics to cover are joining a guild and creating a new guild.
Creating a guild: It should be important to note that there are currently no "NPC guilds", so to speak. In other words, in order for people to join a guild, other people need to make guilds. When you decide to create a guild, simply message a member of the ruling council and have them change your profile. Whoever creates a guild is considered the "guild lord" and has complete control over that guild, how it functions, the guild's purpose, and who can join and stay in the guild. There are two types of guilds, "sanctioned" and "un-sanctioned". When you desire to create a guild, out of character your guild will be created, yet it will not be considered an official guild of Avaren unless a member of the ruling council sanctions it and becomes the patron council member for the guild. A merchant guild, for instance, might form and easily get sanctioned by any council member, while a guild of thieves, while still being allowed to form, would not be sanctioned by a council member, thus be forced to operate "under the radar" of Avaren law.
Joining a guild: If, for some reason, you find the concept of starting a guild or what "sanctioned" or "un-sanctioned" guilds are, don't feel like structuring your own organization or just flat out don't want to lead, you can instead join a guild. In order to join a guild, you need to talk to the guild lord and get their permission, at which point all you need to do if message a staff member so they can edit your profile accordingly.
