Magical Level and Specialties: Salamander has an average capacity for magic. He can hold his own if he has to, but he's no master. To tell the truth, he could be a lot better than he is, but his almost constant state near-inebriation holds him back.

Also, he only uses fire-type spells. He has discovered a lot of different uses for fire, and has become quite flexible with the element, but he is still unable to do anything else.

Physical Description: Salamander is tall and skinny, with long, bright, red hair. His skin is deeply tanned, and cut all over with jagged scars, including a large one that cuts across his torso from his left shoulder to his right hip. He also has a small, star-shaped tattoo on his chest.

He wears loose, brightly colored robes, that show off his scars. He also has a pierced ear, and wears black gloves that once belonged to his father (although he has modified them), and a necklace his mother gave him. He often wears his hair in a long queue, and wraps a cloth around his forehead.

History: Salamander is the son of a blacksmith, Pregrin Smith from Avaren, and a young mage, Pyra of Aesir. He was born in Repear, and was a boy of fourteen when the latest war between Avaren and Aesir broke out, and he pleaded with his father to let him fight for Avaren's sake. Peregrin refused, saying that Salamander was too young to go to war. In truth, Peregrin thought that little could be accomplished with war, and had often said that Avaren and Aesir should become allies rather than enemies. Salamander was young, and hot-headed, and would not heed his father's words.

Then, those monsters attacked, killing his whole family, and destroying the smithy. Salamander himself almost died, and this is when he aquired his prominent scar. He was knocked out, and debris from the house had cut him open. When Salamander came to, his heart broke. He found that alcohol helped numb the sensation of loss. He searched his home, but all that was left of it was a pair of gloves his father had used to work metal. He put them on, but had to modify them, because his father's hands were so much larger than his own. He vowed to do what he could to see his father's dream of Avaren and Aesir becoming allies come to fruition, and to preserve a peace should it come.

Once the kingdoms united, Salamander decided that he would move to Avaren, as there was nothing for him in Repear anymore. He is currently training at the Academy of Magic, and paying for it by working at the stables.
