It made almost no sense to Kaiyoka on her aunt's reasoning. She sent her- a blind teenager -out into the busy markets of Avaren in search of some fruits and rice. It wouldn't have been to hard, despite the lack of sight, if it wasn't so busy. Why would her aunt make her do this tedious task? Certainly a member of the church or a neighbor would have done it for her. Who could refuse a little favor from an old, respected woman of about 90 years old? Certainly not Kai. She was raised better than that.
She heard the market before she smelt or stepped foot into it. It was loud with voices, clanks and thuds of objects moving and being dropped, footsteps of hundreds of people, and the calls of merchants hoping to sell their items. "Oh dear..." She whispered softly to herself, hoping she wouldn't look like a fool, or be trampled. In her opinion, knowing both of those would happen, she hoped the trampling would be done first. At least then, she would feel the shame and embarrassment of being a fool. Kai instantly shook her head at the thought. "Living is a privilege, not a right." she whispered, scolding herself for her thinking.
On that note, she stepped onto the dirt road, feeling the difference from hard, crunchy, dying grass to the wore down road under her shoes. She gulped, sticking a leg out gently to take a step, but heard someone coming and took three steps back, until she felt the difference beneath her. She let a deep sigh out.

Kael'in usually didn't go to the market, instead delegating such tasks to his student. The young man was a bit of a fool and need to learn a bit about economics... Except he was a little too much of a fool and had paid a small fortune for a chicken that wasn't even healthy last time, so Kael'in had to go himself. He hated the noise of the market, but what could he do? He couldn't afford such inflated costs... He was well off, but not that much so... And he felt bad asking his teacher to reimburse him for her son's ignorance.
Near the market, on a worn dirt road, Kael'in walked, trying to focus on the latest of his experiments. It had gone wrong, and he couldn't for the life of him tell what was the problem. It kinda consumed his thoughts now... He was so preoccupied that he didn't notice the woman he'd nearly collided with. He'd pretty much cut her off and realized it just after he did so. As usually, when he did something dumb like that, there was Dar'ian teasing him wia their telepathic link. It was from Dar'ian that he learned he'd pretty much nearly crashed into her, and felt compelled to offer some sort of apology. Turning to her, he smiled and apoligetically "I'm sorry about that.... Cutting you off, that was really rude of me...."

Startled, Kaiyoka jumped and stared blankly ahead. She had heard a voice, a male with a matured voice to old to be a teenager, but not yet weathered and aged for an elderly adult. It narrowed it down instantly to a man about 25-30. But age and who he was didn't much matter-it was if he was talking to Kai or not. Either way, he was close, in front of her. She reached carefully behind her and around her, trying to feel if there was anyone around her besides the man. Usually, she would have to do this due to the strong sense of when people were near, but the market's noise was so distracting...
Feeling no one around, she guessed that he was talking to her. "Uh...it's alright," she smiled. "No harm done." she said, blinking. It suddenly made her wonder: could he tell she was blind? It was a 50/50 situation. Her aimless feeling for people with her arms while standing in front of him and her milky colored eyes might have signaled it, but then, Kai had just met him. She gulped, not knowing what to do and knowing what she should be doing. She should be getting the two apples, five oranges, the bag of rice and the bundle of bananas, not standing around, but if she was just cut off and she didn't know, how would she manage in the bustling path, let alone getting the the stores and tents that had the right items. She had never thought of that.
"Well, uh..." she kicked the border of the dirt that was under her feet, but felt the tip of her foot hit something hard-the man's leg. She gasped, scolding herself mentally. "I-I'm so sorry...I didn;t see your leg there," she reached out to put a hand on his arm, but missed. She put the palm of her hand on her face, wishing she never had come. Her aunt and Kai herself knew that this was just going to lead to embarrassment.

Kael'in had not noticed the woman he'd so rudely cut off was blind until after he'd apologized. He had found her eyes a very unique colour, and was intrigued by them, but he was so used to the extraordinary, that it had never occurred to him that it was due to her being blind. He'd speculated to himself, that maybe she'd been exposed to a unique magic or something along those lines. Genetic mutation had also crossed his mind. Either way, it didn't much bother to him.
Her response made him slightly unsure as to whether she was shy or simply telling him to get lost. Still, he felt he had to at least offer some form of more material then a simple verbal apology. His honour demanded it. "I am very sorry about that... I shouldn't be walking around with my head in the clouds" He said with a grin and continued "Allow me to help you with your shopping? as an apology?" He said with a grin, his tone intentionally cheerful and friendly.
It was as she reached out -apparently aimlessly- that he began to think she might be at least partially blind. It made him feel all the more the idiot for not looking where he was going. He knew that if he collided with someone, he would probably hurt who ever he hit. He was after all wearing his light armour. Even though it wasn't visible under his tunic and cloak... Of all the people I almost run over, it has to be the one that might not be able to see me.... He mentally berated himself for his stupidity, since he knew he should have the self control not to get himself consumed by anything enough that he no longer notices anything around him... or at least not do it in so crowded a place as the entrance to the market... Her foot collided with his, knocking him back to the situation at hand. It also made him completely certain that she was blind. It was quite surprising for him that she was alone in so busy a place. He decided that even if she declined his offer to help, he'd follow her just to make sure that some other clod didn't injure her.

Kai felt his eyes on her. It was an odd feeling she, and possibly others, got. She figured it was instincts. She bit her bottom lip lightly, feeling nervous, and her cheeks flushed from the flood of embarrassment that flooded her like a river flooded after a dam broke. She was interrupted in her thoughts and feelings as the man had then apologized again and this time offered to help with her shopping. At first, she was hoping that he wasn't stopping or pushing any of his plans aside by this offer. But then, maybe, just maybe, she would get her shopping done with his help.
After an awkward silence, she decided to take him up on his offer, hoping that he wouldn't treat her like she was helpless completely, and then hoping that she wasn't troubling him. "Uhm," she began in a nervous tone. "I only need to get a few things...some apples, oranges, bananas and a bag of r-rice...Could you maybe help me?" she asked, feeling her pride plummet down from her head and heart down to the ground. "If you can't tell, I'm a bit...blind." she whispered and wincing at the last word as if a hand struck her face. Kaiyoka absolutely hated being called that. She hated it more when she had to admit that she was.

Kael'in waited patiently as he assumed she thought over his offer of help. He hoped she wouldn't be offended, but he had a feeling it was not a good idea to leave a blind person to find their way through such a crowded market. He decided that even if she rejected his offer, he'd follow her anyway. That way she was a bit less likely to get hurt.
But that 'plan' wasn't needed, as she accepted his offer. Grinning, he cheerfully replied "great! I'm pretty much looking for the same things. I'm shopping for dinner. I'm Kael'in, by the way." He grinned and asked her whether she'd rather walk or ride his horse. He'd brought Star along to carry the food, since he realized he'd be getting a bit too much to carry himself. And having a horse with him also meant that people were less likely to crowd him or try to pickpocket him. He didn't actually need to lead Star, since she was trained enough that unless given the command, she'd just walk beside him. And she didn't exactly need to be lead to avoid trampling people either.
