Okay, this kinda sucked. The chapel had burned down. He didn't quite worship this place3s god but it did seem that he was a god of the light. even if his views on magic where on the bad side.
A man dressed in an elegant and expensive set red and gold scale armor. His heavy metal shield which matched his armor was strapped to his back and and his long, sturdy Bastard sword was sheathed in its scabbard at his side.
He walked over to the blackened remains of the church a knelt down. His armor look heavy and cumbersome but he moved with the grace of a trained warrior. He dipped his hand into a pile of ash and examined it. Feeling its texture, and smelling it. Dragon fire. How had he missed its maker. He dumped the ashes back on the ground wiped off his hands. Then wondered how he was going to find the dragon that did this.

Dar'ian walked through the charred remains of what had been a beautiful chapel. He wore a set of plate mail underneath a bluish violet tunic. Hiding the part of his armor covering the legs, was a pair of really 'poofy' hose. At his side, was his longsword. The unique thing about it was that it had been enchanted- by Kael'in- to store part of his fire. He couldn't fire breath in his human form after all, and this allowed him to attack with fire anyway.
Looking around, he realized that the attacker had been a dragon. Probably a dragon who thoroughly disliked humans, and there were many of them... He wondered what was going on... Why in the world would a dragon like that come to a chapel... :Kael'in? Kael'in can you check this place for a magical signature? I think it's a dragon this time... He sent along a telepathic channel. How he wished he could do any more than sense magical energies... He could tell something was completely off, but not much more...
He became a bit worried when Kael'in sent back that he wasn't alone in the chapel... and it had definitely been a dragon. Kael'in didn't appear at all sure who the magical signatures belonged to, the 'life form' inside the chapel at the moment or the dragon... All he could tell was that the one in the chapel was a 'mix' of breeds, with some markers that screamed dragon...
Well, that was definitely weird... Dar'ian was somehow more confused than before... He unsheathed his blade and started searching for the other man.

His sense where as powerfu as a Dragon's and he could breath fire. This human for was not a shape shifted form there was magic concieling his true for. he could breath fire but it would dirupt the illusion a bit, and his breath weapon wasn't as long range as a full sized dragon.
Anyway it didn't take him long to detect the presence of the dragon. He had been using a mix of divine abilities. Instead of detecting evil he was using the same spell to detect Draconic beings. He looked around and eventually saw the other on the other sid of a mostly burnt down wall. the dragon had already unsheath his blade Horu's hand was already on the one and a half hand handle. His shield wasn't exactly at hand at the moment but he was good with just his blade.
"So, you return to the scene of the crime dragon?" He asked, preparing to defend himself and attack.

"What are you exactly? You're part dragon at least, are you not?" Dar'ian was getting a little confused, his confusion fuelled further the man's accusation. His opinion of the man increased when he accurately defined him as a dragon, as most didn't...
"What are you talking about?" He responded, then decide it might be better to tell the man what he was doing here, since there was no point in fighting. He didn't think the dragon would react this way, and even if the dragon was that wise in the ways of human deception, it wasn't going to make much of a difference. Either the dragon would eventually incriminate himself or this 'man' was simply there for the same reason he was... "I'm just checking out a disturbance... We ran into a few people running away and figured we'd check it out... What are you doing here?"

Horu had yeat to pull his weapon out. Out of respect for the true dragon he was giving him the benefit of the doubt. "I am a paladin, sworn to Bahamut, a name you should know well as he is a patron of your race, dragon. He bestowed dragon hood on me. The image you see before you is that of my original body, before the light of the Platinum dragon changed me."
"As for why I'm here. I had simply come to pay my respects to the local deity, and found the place of worship in ruin. The soot smells of dragon breath so it would be my guess that this was done by dragon breath. You're a dragon are you not?"

"Interesting, I've not run into a sworn of Bahamut before... You must be well respected by the deity then...Yes, I'm a dragon, but not the one you want. I find it rather repugnant that a dragon would show his strength in such a undignified and disgraceful way... " He finished with a a growing irritation, as he thought about the wastefulness of such an act. Kael'in jumped in, telepathically sending his acceptance of the man's explanation of himself. It made a lot of sense, as he was not fully a dragon, and wouldn't have a purely draconian magical signature. It made a lot of sense, that he'd even have markers that couldn't be defined as human. One thing he'd learned was that the god-touched had very unique magical markers.
"We knew it was a dragon was here in the recent past, since my friend picked up his magical signature. He also picked up yours, so we didn't know which was the culprit. I apologize for the near attack." He explained with a grin, and continued "We're going to track this vicious fool, care to come along? He should really learn a lesson about inter-species relations..." He said with a hint of anger in his voice. Fools like the one here gave a negative impression of the dragons as a species. Most, in his experience, weren't vicious. They were just indifferent to humans. That was fine with him, but this cruelty was not... Of course, the villagers could be hiding the fact that they'd provoked him, but they were going to question him about the incident before they taught him a lesson. After all, pressing circumstances are an acceptable excuse.
"I go by Dar'ian Flamewind, by the way. My friend, Kael'in, is currently helping the survivers with their injuries. He says hello."

"Horu" he said letting go of his weapon. There was no ill intent or fallacies to his words so he decided to lower his guard some what. "And I will happily join you on such a quest." He said waling around the crumbing wall to shake hands with the dragon's human form.
As he did he noticed something out of his peripheral vision. He turned to see what it was. It was a steely glint. not gold or silver like some of the melted candle sticks it was red. But it was wedged in a blacked rafter. Horu walked over to take a look. He picked up the jagged timber and pulled out the red shard. "Well, looks like we got a clue." (get's out handy-dandy note book u.u) He held up the shard in the light It was actually rather large and sharp. and ite was a deep blood red. "This scale belong to you?" He asked Handing it to the dragon to examine. Then he looked over and noticed that the spot he had founded was basically a risen edge of an impact crater. "Do dragons normally roll in their kill like some dogs do?" He knew the answer was but he had to jest a little.

"Great! an extra head is always useful." He said as he grinned. He watched Horu pick something up, and as Horu lifted it, realized it was a scale. "Of course not, I have silver blue scales, not red..."
Dar'ian accepted the scale and started to examine it. Just then, Kael'in telepathically said that he could try to trace it to it's owner. Dar'ian grinned at that, and told Horu that they could try tracing it back, but he'd let Kael'in explain that part when he got here.
"Don't ask me...I'm not that in touch with what's popular these days" Dar'ian laughed as he joked about Horu's question. He assumed the man was joking around.

Kael'in strode into the rubble with a bit of a grin. "Already here, Dar. I'm Kael'in, by the way." he said as he offered his hand to Horu. He took the scale from Dar'ian and switched over to his mage sight. He'd learned long ago, that everyone who had the ability to control energy flows, could see them and not just sense them, if they focused enough. It was simply a matter of control. He incorporated a kind of scrying spell -of his own invention- that allowed him scry using the magical traces left. Except it wasn't just that, but he used the energy flows that were drawn to the traces. It ended up forming a kind of map, with an end result of a picture of the current location of the owner of the magical traces."I see a series large lakes, a few days east of here, and a large dragon. Beside this particular lake, is the ruins of a temple. There seemes to be a sense of a combination of fire and ice, but to what that is attributed I can't tell..." He snapped out of his scrying as he got the sensation of a psychic bite, for lack of a better description of it... It was almost as if the dragon or the area around the dragon was protected from scrying... No wonder he couldn't get a clear image of the dragon's features. "- Ouch! Something just bit me... There are some defenses in play... Boy was he grateful that he'd been fully sheilded, or he could be unconscious or even dead from the 'bite'. It had hurt enough with his layers of sheilds, and he had a hard time seeing clearly for a few minutes.
