Important Info
Name: Kael'in Reinhardt
Nickname: Kael
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Birthday: Jan. 1
Familial Position: Heir to the throne of Kelneth
Special Abilities:
Job: Treasure hunter, historian (musician on the side)
Alignment: Unaligned
Appearance:
He is average height, quite thin, and muscled. He has blue-green eyes and silvery hair. His hair was originally reddish-blond, but was bleached silver because of his extensive use of this particular type of magic. He is very beautiful, and keeps having guys (that don't know him) hit on him, thinking he's a girl. He has recently grown out his wavy hair down to his elbows and wears it tied back with a grey, midnight-blue, or blood-red silk ribbon.
He is blind in his left eye. It is a product of a abnormally strong blow to his eye. The blow caused blood to pool in his eye, damaging the retina, and it had to be drained out. His left eye doesn't look at all different from his right eye, though.
Personality:
Kael'in is a kind and sensitive young man, who is very difficult to anger. The farthest people have angered him is that he'll hit the nearest inanimate object and that was only two of them. Most people just get no reaction out of him, which both annoys and scares them. He turns rather sadistic and cruel when angered. He has only been truly angered three times in his life, and two of the fools are dead! The third disappeared... He is truly terrifying when he loses his temper, as he kills without hesitation. Kael'in is the kind of person who blends into the background and is underestimated, which is why he can terrify people when angered. He pretends not to care, and seeks revenge in spectacular ways at a later date. He is very quiet and observant; along with nearly perfect at hiding his emotions, which allows him to effectively be the perfect unaligned treasure hunter an historian! He has a tendency to be usually right about whatever he voices an opinion on and no one can really read him. He reacts pretty well to authority, but he can't stand incompetence. He rebels if someone who is in authority is incompetent and doesn't listen to reason. He gets pissed off if a leader can't remain calm and think clearly in a crisis, as he sees that as a form of incompetence. One of many reasons why he is not in a rigidly defined position.
He is kind of shy. He rarely lets people see his true self, but keeps people at a distance. It appears that there is a wall between him and everyone else. This is because people were always jealous of him as a child, and took it out on him. He learned early on that letting people in only gave them a weapon to use against him. He makes true friends very slowly. The few people he is truly friends with, he's very loyal to, willing to sacrifice himself for them. He is very fun to be around though, and he has no problems hanging out with acquaintances. He is also the kind of person who is willing to sacrifice his life for anyone he cares about.
Friends:
Interests: music, history, strategy games, swordsmanship, horses
Loathes: War, Bad rulers, crime. disloyalty
Gear:
All his gear has been tuned to his unique magic signature, allowing him to easily bespell them.
History:
Kael'in was born the 5th son of the king and queen of Kelneth. He grew up a rather cheerful and friendly boy. His parents allowed him and his siblings to play with the palace children. It didn't matter that many of them were not of noble birth. They were admired as the king and queen, and he had a perfect childhood.
When he was about 10 years old, a twin brother of his father returned from his travels. He wanted the throne and organized a rebellion to take it by force. He had plotted for years and had amassed enough power and enough of a force of magicians and necromancers to force the people to fear for their lives too much to provide a strong enough force to defeat the rebellion. It was at a stalemate for a year, until the uncle decided to simply target the royal family. He spent the next year magically killing first the two eldest sons, then the king, and finally the queen. Kael'in's older brother abandoned the family and joined his uncle in the rebellion. His older sister disappeared as well, and he strongly suspected that his dear Uncle Jerod was behind that. He didn't know how, but he knew she was still alive though.
He raided the family's personal gold coffers and ran away, swearing to find her. Kael'in chose to run away to Avaren because last he'd heard from his sister, she'd been visiting Avaren. He was an extremely mature 12 year old, partly by the fact that he'd been forced to grow up with the political situation in his country. He knew better than to pretend to be a commoner, so he decided on the role of a minor noble. He had avoided the Kelnethans as much as possible, and reached the border safely.
Reaching Avaren, he was found by a mage not too far from the border. The mage had been robbed and was trying to get back to her school. He'd been terrified and lost. She'd calmed him down, thinking he was only a lost child. She'd noticed his mage potential as soon as she'd started telepathically soothing him. She convinced him to come with her to her school, and get training. This was rare, as she didn't take students normally, being the head of her school and all; but his politeness had endeared him. Not many nobles -or children, for that matter- were polite when that obviously lost. When she started looking for quick jobs for travel expenses, he realized she was broke and paid their way. He'd laughingly argued, that she had more time to teach him if she didn't look for work! That sense of humor and kindness was what kept her from handing him to one of the instructors when they got to the school.
He graduated at the age of 18. As was customary in this school, he went to find himself a mage-companion. Most people got firebirds or something along those lines, and that's what he went in search of. He went to the forest known for it's magical creatures and came across an unusual trap. In it was trapped an obviously -to him at least- young dragon. He'd been taught that it was unethical and cruel to entrap a magical creature, that a companion had to come to them of their own free will. He spent the next 30 min. breaking the trap. As he broke the trap, another dragon burst into the area and attacked. The young dragon that was trapped shrieked something, and the other dragon stopped his attack. It was just as he was about to fry Kael'in with a breath of fire. The dragon that had attacked came up to him and transformed.
In a human-like shape, he apologized and thanked him for rescuing his younger sister. He knew that Kael'in was looking for a companion, as that was the only reason human mages came to this particular part of the forest. He offered to go with Kael'in as his mage-companion, and was refused until he explained that he wanted to see the world. They've been traveling together ever since, as treasure hunters.

Birthday: Jan. 1
Familial Position: Heir to the throne of Kelneth
Special Abilities:
- Magic:
- He has studied a rare school of magic. He can manipulate 'nodes' of energy. The 'nodes' can be found anywhere, as he is strong enough to follow the 'lines' of energy that connect at a 'node'. He can also change his molecular shape and density, through the use of the 'node' energy.
- Telepathy (weak):
- Can gauge the moods of living beings. He can also influence them in the weakest sense possible, by targeting their feelings/emotions. Cannot read minds yet nor force people to think certain thoughts, and doesn't particularly want to learn that skill. When with Dar'ian, his ability is augmented enough that he can talk mind-to-mind, regardless of his low level of skill with telepathy. The dragon's magic completely overpowers the natural constraints on his telepathic ability. Kael'in doesn't want to learn to break the natural constrainst on his own, as he does not want the power of of being able to magically force others to think what he wants. In his opinion, it is unethical.

Friends:
- Mage Companion: Dar'ian Flamewind
- His true name is unpronounceable in by humans, so he uses the name of Dar'ian Flamewind. A young dragon. He is only 200 years old, which makes him about a teenager in human years. He -even as a relatively uneducated dragon- is far smarter than humans, and enjoys watching Kael'in. He agreed to come with Kael'in when he broke the mage's companion-trap set up by another mage. His 10 year old sister had been caught and helpless, until Kael'in freed her.
His true form is far too large to be functional in human territory, and he uses his human-like form. In his human-like form, the only thing that distinguishes him from normal humans is the crimson eyes, the shining silver hair, and the fact that he is so impossibly graceful. he has another form, that of a human-sized dragon. He uses that particular form when they need to travel. If they are in heavily populated area, Dar'ian remains in his human-like form and they both use horses. He can also communicate mind-to-mind with people that have no magical or telepathic ability whatsoever.

- Star and Arrow:
- They are the horses that Kael'in and Dar'ian use. They are both stallions and brothers. Star is a chestnut, while Arrow is a grey horse. They are both 3 years old, and were trained for racing. Luckily for Dar'ian and Kael'in, their owner went bankrupt and had to sell them.
Interests: music, history, strategy games, swordsmanship, horses
Loathes: War, Bad rulers, crime. disloyalty
Gear:
All his gear has been tuned to his unique magic signature, allowing him to easily bespell them.
- Sword
- It has an ornately made hilt with a diamond embedded in it. The diamond is visible in the middle of the hilt. It is his focusing stone/mineral of choice. The blade is long and mirror-bright. He uses it as a scrying tool, as well as it's obvious use. It was a gift from his Magic teacher, upon his graduation.
- Plate Armor:
- The armor is bespelled so that it is as light as if he was wearing none. It is also slightly spelled against magic attack, weakening them. His armor is a complete set, though he generally only wears his breastplate, if he even wears anything.
- Dagger:
- A simple dagger, with nothing remarkable about it.
