Father: Ulfgar Nordengard
Mother: Elisa Nordengard
Siblings: Thorgil, Dan, Kleppti, and Ana.
History: Born in the city of Nordengard, one of the larger cities of the Northern realm, Viggo was given the name Nordengard which was the tradition of all those born within the city. The local wiseman had been present and cast the runes to see how this child's life would progress. The prominent rune of Eihwaz, the rune of Testing that symbolized that as long as he believed he was protected by this no harm could befall him. His parents were overjoyed and Viggo swiftly grew up to be a hardy warrior like his three older brothers. Along with their father, the four brothers participated in the wars against other warlords and defending their city, but over time war took its toll and their father was slain attacking the rival city of Torheim.
Being the oldest, Thorgil became the head of the family when Viggo was 18 but that was short-lived as Thorgil was permanently disabled after being trampled under a horse under at the snowy plains before the gates. Dan had no desire to lead the family, prefering his position as part of the house guards, and so Viggo became the patriarch. During this time he continued to believe that he had a purpose and everytime he went into battle his rune sign seemed to hold true. That is until the unthinkable happened. When he was 20, the city of Kexholm lay seige to Nordengard and due to malnutrition his sister Ana died in childbirth. She had been a gentle child and grown to be an equally gentle woman, and Viggo couldn't understand why the Gods had taken her from them. It was then that his faith in his purpose faltered.
Lead by their Warlord himself, Viggo and his remaining brothers charged out with the rest of the men against the beseiging forces in an attempt to break their hold on the city. Everything went horribly wrong, for while Viggo fought like a man possesed it seemed he nothing he was doing turned the tide. It was then that his warlord issued a retreat and his brothers tried to reach him, but Viggo was too deep in the enemy lines. His sword sang as iron rendered hearts useless and none from Kexholm dared approach him: that was why they used arrows.
It took three arrows to bring him down and Viggo felt helpless as the life bled out of him. For two days he laid there, the arrows having been hastily aimed and not truely lethal, until he was found by a passerby. That passerby happened to be a wandering Knight, who agreed to heal Viggo so long as he became his squire. Agreeing to this, Viggo learned from the knight everything he could until the Knight died in battle when Viggo was 24. Feeling purposeless once more, Viggo returned to Nordengard in search of his family but everything had changed. Kexholm had conquered his home and outside of the gate were the heads of all who dared to oppose the new Warlord: skewered on pikes.
Swearing revenge, Viggo took to the hills for 10 years and attacked any Kexholm forces that passed through his little patch of hill. It was then that his name became feared amongst the Northerners and Warlords hired people of all sorts to try to bring Viggo in. He managed to defeat them all, with varying difficulty, and feels that there was nothing left for him in the Northlands. So he headed south, towards the kingdom that the knight who trained him spoke of long ago, in search of honing his skills even more so until reputation alone would win him back his home.
Viggo has spent an entire year traveling south, but he has at last passed through the mountains into Avaren. And who knows what adventures await him.
