Callista was in her usual long, flowing black dress with her black cloak. Her barefeet had a pair of black flats between them and the ground, but that didn't stop them from getting chalices. The hood of her cloak was always up, shadowing her face, in fear of if her twin sister tossed mischief around the town or not. She was mounted upon her black stallion today, just for walking around the market, just because it was so busy. Somebody could easily tear her away from her horse if she was walking beside him.
Besides, it was nice to give her feet a rest for a change. Her stallion had a nice, smooth gait too, so she wasn't worried about slipping off by mistake, even when riding bareback.
As the stallion continued walking around, she continued looking at all the displays, stopping once in a while to look at some of them. She was surprised. There were actually a lot of people here, with a lot of valuable goods here.
It seemed, today was a good day.

Izlin walked at a slow pace, which was about the only speed manageable with the general bustle of the market. He wore his typical set of grey robes, covered in an assortment of pockets for storing various spell components and other magical trinkets. Regularly, he preferred to spend his time around the academy, where he felt the most at home since the destruction of his true home. Unfortunately, he decided staying cooped up in one place might not be the best decision in light of his current station within the ruling council. Thus he decided to go for a bit of a stroll around the city.
As he passed by the various vendors peddling their odd assortments of wares, he noticed a certain girl riding atop a horse. As there was nothing overtly suspicious happening he kept walking right on past her. Yet, something about the girl struck a chord in his memory, though he couldn’t quite place why. It took him about a minute or so until it finally clicked. She greatly resembled the depiction created for the girl who had so recently been declared as wanted for theft. Normally, he would have left this to town militia, as this particular section of the city was considered to be a part of Antonio’s sphere of responsibility. Yet, the nature of the theft attributed to this girl was one Izlin could hardly ignore.
Pivoting on the spot, he headed back towards where he had passed the girl at a hurried pace. Fortunately, a girl on horseback wasn’t hard to find, towering somewhat above the regular bustle in the market. Actually having a set destination, unlike the girl, he easily caught up to her. Reflexively tightening his grip upon the staff he carried in his left hand, he spoke to her. “Excuse me, miss, might I request a moment of your time?”

When the man stopped to talk to her, the stallion immediately stopped walking. Callista felt a little awkward about this, as she didn't know anybody in this town just yet. This fellow was obviously part of the town's law, so she didn't want to react badly. "Oh, of course. I have nothing important to do anyway." she said, forcing a smile in an attempt to be polite.
Even if she wanted to get away, there was no chance with this crowd. Way too many people would get badly injured, or even killed, if she told her stallion to break into a canter to escape. She had a really bad feeling that this might have something to do with her sister, but brushed it off.
She leaned closer to Izlin so they could hear each other better over the crowd. "Did you want to talk here, or somewhere less noisy?" she asked, keeping a polite voice, despite how much she really didn't want to talk to him. However, she wasn't about to let that show.

At the very least, she hadn't attempted to make a break for it. Either she had no clue who he was, didn't suspect him to have authority in Avaren, or simply didn't believe herself to have been properly identified. Whatever the case, it was a good start.
Though crowded areas meant greater chances for innocents to be harmed, it also meant less paths of escape for someone on horseback, assuming she did not want to abandon her mount and hope to lose herself in the surrounding crowd.
"Now, I'm not very enthused about this sort of confrontation, so I do believe I will be blunt. You have stolen something from the academy, an item of great value, and I would be very glad if you were to hand it over immediately and without trouble. If you do so, I am willing to leave at that and allow you to keep your freedom. We can both go our separate ways and think no more of the matter."

Callista frowned, her heart beginning to race. "I have stolen nothing, sir." she then pulled her hood back to let the sun kiss her features. Her long, straight blue hair seemed to slip out from the hood's shadow, giving off a healthy shine in the sunlight. "You've probably mistaken me for my sister."
Both in personality and preference of colours to wear, she and her twin sister were opposites. The stereotypical 'bad person' was found in dark colours, but Victoria always wore white to go with her red hair, which made it that much more difficult to explain.
Callista remained mounted on the stallion, really not wanting to be separated from the companion she's had since before she left home. She figured she may not have a choice in the matter, however. This gentleman seemed determined.

"Hmmm..." Izlin said, frowning slightly. "You must forgive me for being skeptical, yet, even if your story were true, how do you suppose someone who were guilty would reply? Would it not be logical that, whether or not you were guilty, you would have given the same story? Obviously you wouldn't be likely to turn yourself in without a fight."
Still, he wouldn't like to arrest the wrong person, as that would look very bad for the current administration of Avaren as a whole. He had always been taught in Aesir to find as much information out as possible before any final decision was made.
"At any rate, I'd like you to tell me about your sister, or better yet, escort me to meet her. Perhaps then we would be able to better sort out this predicament."

Callista couldn't believe this was happening. She slipped her hood up to shadow her face again, and told him, "I do not know where she is." she said, her voice having that odd tone of uncertainty in it. She sat up straight, wanting to get out of the crowd. "It is possible, yes. Which just goes to show that even if I told you the truth, you wouldn't believe me anyway, just from the fact that we do not know each other."
She frowned, watching him for a moment, then dismounting the stallion, keeping a couple arms length away from Izlin. "I have no proof that I have a sister, but if you wish to search by belongings, you'll find nothing stolen." Then again, however, she only carried a very small pouch that contained what money she had, and that was always kept in the safest place she knew of: her bra. Nobody would ever see it, and no thief would guess to pickpocket there. Not to mention her dress and cloak had no pockets.

Izlin, though he had been fairly positive initially, was quickly growing to doubt the guilt of this particular girl. Call it a gut feeling, or intuition gleaned from countless spells that involved probing the human mind. Still, the importance of the matter was such that he couldn't simply let go of his single lead. "I don't doubt that, whether you were guilty or not we could very well search through your belongings and find nothing. No proper thief would carry their stolen goods on their person.
"Now, I'm willing to trust you to an extent, though in order to do so, I would like to confirm that you have a sister, in order to give your argument some credit. Now, in case my attire didn't tip you off, I am a practitioner of magic. I would like it if you would provide me with some item or article that belongs to your sister, even if it is the simplest of trinkets. All that is important is that it had a strong sympathetic link to her. Under those circumstances, it should be easy to perform a weak divination spell in order to confirm her existence."

Callista had no idea how to respond to this.. She had nothing of her sister's on her. All she had on her was what she had when she left home... which was nothing except for a little pouch with some coins in it. "As I've said, I have no proof of my sister's existence." Little did he know, that she was actually a werewolf. She could easily hunt her sister were she in her wolf form, however, she had a horse to look after, which made it that much more difficult. Horses tended to fear wolves for obvious reasons. It was amazing her stallion didn't sense it, even in her human form.
She casually walked around to the opposite side of the stallion that Izlin was on, slapped the stallion's flank, then made a break for it. Running through this crowd had to give her a chance in escaping. The stallion would eventually come back to her, as loyalty usually goes, so she wasn't worried about him. For now, all she had to worry about was getting out of the market. In fact, getting out of this town before the law caught up to the wrong twin.
