Mother (insane) - Melina Evryn

History:
On a rainy night in March, soon after the fall of Aesir, a child was discovered on the Evryn's doorstep. They took her in and raised her as their own, having been praying for a child for years. Two years after taking in the orphan, Melina gave birth to Arron.
It was a modest yet happy childhood; the Evryns were a merchant family, making just enough to live comfortably. As the store grew, Melina had to take more shifts, leaving Alenya to care for her younger brother. The siblings grew up very close, becoming more best friends rather than brother and sister.
Because their parent were too busy with the store, Arron never heard the stories of Aesir. Alenya therefore took it on herself to tell him. He loved them. He said Alenya's words made the city come alive for him. Almost every day, they would go to the ruins and play pretend that the great city was still alive.
However, as they got older, it became harder for them to separate reality from imagination. Pretend play leaked into normal conversation. Several times, Arron in particular would forget that Aesir was gone; he once even asked his father if they could vacation there. Their parents got worried. They restricted Arron and Alenya from leaving the city anymore and tried to keep a closer eye on them.
When Alenya was nearly nine, Arron tried to convince Alenya to take him back to the ruins. Alenya took him to the city walls but refused to go further. Arron began to fuss so Alenya appeased him with his favourite Aesirian story. As she was telling it, she could see the city rise in front of them. It wasn't real of course, more like an echo of the past, a ghost. Arron exclaimed that he could see it as well. He crawled onto the walls. Before she could stop him, Arron fell to his death, trying desperately to get to the ghost city.
The Evryns were distraught, Alenya in particular. Melina stopped working at the store to care for her young daughter. After the death, Alenya's visions got worse. They manifested themselves more often, becoming more realistic and vivid. The memory of her brother's death haunted her in particular. She relived it often, sometimes in the vicinity of her mother. Melina cried for her to stop; she couldn't stand seeing her only birth child dying in front of her repeatedly. Alenya tried to stop, but she couldn't control her power. Eventually, her mother was driven to insanity.
Her father was livid. He closed shop and moved away with his babbling wife. Abandoned, Alenya enrolled in the Academy of Magic, hoping they could stop her visions. It was revealed that Alenya was a somewhat powerful Illusionist, able to bend reality to confuse and blind people. Through training, Alenya has started to gain more control over her powers.
Desires: complete control over her powers, a friend, to be able to be close to people without having to worry about hurting them
Fears: large groups of people, losing control
